Effectively led the commencement of the Financial and Shared Services programme for the new Ministry of Justice allowing for due diligence, analysis of options and presentation to executive board for decision on best way forward. Options, suggestions taken on board by the executive board as the best way forward for the MoJ.

Managed to successful completion the migration of Judicial fee payment system including Tribunals panel judges fees from the DTI to MoJ. Successfully managed the sensitivity encountered with the Judiciary. Completed on time within budget and without the usage of contingency

Successfully kick started a project to develop an online property possession claim system within the Department for Constitutional Affairs for Her Majesty’s Court Service under the cabinet Courts and Tribunals Modernisation Programme . Brief to reinstate project that had stalled for 2 years and manage through to proving. Successfully managed key stakeholders (including 2 third party IT suppliers and Bank of England) bringing all requirements together, establishing agreed joint project plan. Due to end date time constraints, project plan was very aggressive with little scope for contingency. Effectively managed work streams to adhere to project plan. Completed on time and within budget.

Co-ordinated and led successful project to merge three regions and one subsidiary company at Canon UK into Canon’s two largest UK regions. Relocation of all offices and staff (100 in total). Full restructure of departments, including redundancies where necessary. Relocation was completed on time, below budget by £100k and maintaining full customer service throughout, delivering total annual overhead savings of £1.2m.

Negotiated increased credit and banking lines for Ternes International AG facilitating increase in turnover and increase in company value (10%). Successful negotiation with key financiers including HSBC and Royal Bank of Scotland. Increased credit arrangements, facilitated additional business take on, including 1m MT steel contract with Ethiopian Government with a total value of US$220m.

Project Managed restructure of financial operation at Europ Assistance, identified £325k of cost savings and implemented changes to achieve figure. Identified and rectified inefficiencies and thus reduced headcount, structured operation to increase performance and reduce need for ongoing contract staff. Successful outcome achieved efficiencies and savings in 9 months thus facilitating the take on of More Than motor contract, doubling motor turnover.

Successfully set up the trade and corporate finance department at Shinhan Bank in London - on time and under budget thus maintaining the banks prestige with large corporate accounts such as Samsung, Daewoo and Hyundai. Successfully installed letter of credit and treasury systems. Led direct negotiations with large city institutions for UK credit lines and 3rd party guarantees. Budget of £800k was set up completed under budget at £500k expenditure.

Led project at Canon UK to role out across the UK a web based reporting extension to the Data Warehouse, ensuring access for 400 home based staff. Liaised with 3rd party IT supplier and internal management, sales and service, convinced all managers of the virtues of the product. Successful outcome, completed project at cost saving of GBP 75,000 as system negated need for additional standard licences.

2006 to Present Ministry of Justice (formerly Department for Constitutional Affairs) – Central Government Department – Programme Office Manager - Financial and Commercial Shared Services (FCSS)
Programme Office Manager for commencement of the FCSS Programme to re tender/re negotiate all out-source back office financial operations for the department.
Effectively co-ordinated all due diligence projects for new merger of National Offender Management Service (NOMS) and Her Majesty’s Prison Service (HMPS) taking shared service requirements for 26,000 staff to 98,000 staff UK wide.
Analyse all options – re tender to in house to joint venture operations with Home Office.
Produce and present high level proposals to board directors and Director General on feasibility of all options (costs, timescales and impact) for executive decision.
Additionally Project Managed Supplier Data Maintenance project to clean trade supplier database and make available on intranet for business usage to limit set up of new suppliers – Under budget and on time.
