Managing the transition of SAP-Basis operations from in-house to a fully managed outsourced service. This included coordination of several offshore sub providers including the provision of training.

World-wide responsibility for IT Security. Conducting of periodic IT Security assessments. Assessing the risks related to specific IT projects and systems and identifying possible mitigations. 2003-2006 Global Head of Information Systems Auditing in a global operating chemical company
Responsible for supervising of all IT related audit activities performed by Internal Auditing on a world-wide level. Development of the IT Audit programs (Access Control, ERP, Databases, Infrastructure, Physical Data Center Security). Evaluation and Implementation of a General Audit Software for data-mining and analysis. Supervision of information systems audits. Provision of IT know-how to business process auditors. Leading and participation in internal audits in USA, Switzerland, Russia, China and Middle-East.

2001-2003 Head of Global IT Operations Americas (located in USA)
Implementation of the new concept of a continental IT operations center according to ITIL.
Responsible for the operation of the IT infrastructure for the Americas, including the continental and regional computer centers for North and South America. This included: Follow-the-sun server operations, and regional service desks supporting the IT infrastructure for about 4000 users throughout the continent. Consolidation of 12 computer centers across the Americas and implementation of a backup computer center for the continent with data mirroring from the main data center.

2000-2001 Head of Information Services Southern Europe (France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece)
Major achievements were the consolidation of 4 computers centers, down sizing and restructuring the IT organization of the region.

1994-2000 Head of Information Services Region China (People’s Republic of China, Taiwan, Hong Kong)
Responsible for the business application support and the IT infrastructure for all business units in the region. Managing the Asia Pacific telecommunications and messaging center. Building up the necessary IT infrastructure as well as the business application support for several newly founded Joint Venture companies in the People’s Republic of China. Provision of user training in all areas (ERP, office systems, etc). Development of a business continuity plan and a disaster recovery service for the regions. Conducting reagular disaster recovery tests with the involvement of power users from all business units and group companies.

1987-1994 Head of EDI Team (Electronic Data Interchange)
Strategic planning for EDI implementation throughout the group. Responsible for pilot implementation in the supply chain area (ordering, replenishments, goods receipt information, etc.) as well as in finance (electronic payments).
Actively participated in the EDI standardization process (UN/EDIFACT, CIDX, CEFIC) in the area of materials management and finance. Most of the EDI-standard messages developed at that time are still used in today’s B2B e-commerce.
